Anyone have problems with Datamaster and a max232 based connector (92 vette)
A friend and I built this ALDL interface ( http://members.***.net/craig.moates/images/FCM232.jpg ) to try out the trial version of Datamaster to see if we want to purchase the code. We did notice that the capacitor C2 was backwards. We hooked up pin A and pin M on the ALDL port of my 92 Vette and attached a 12 volt power supply. Datamaster says it is retrieving data, but that it does not recognize the PCM (pcm not supported). I checked to make sure that I had the version for 92 y-body (manual).
My question is, will this cable work with Datamaster or do I need to buy Datamaster's cable to try out their software? Or does this cable work and we just messed up something?
Re: Anyone have problems with Datamaster and a max232 based connector (vmi_vette)
i built the same cable and have had good results with datamaster and tunercat. every once and a while i will get an small "blip" where datamaster will not record, but for the most part it works great. in datamaster help there is a communication help section. they are aware of a link timing problem. check the help section in datamaster it should help. best of luck
