'96 CE Electric door lock chattering problem
My electric door locks seem possessed. They will occasionally start chattering partially locking and unlocking at a very rapid rate (like 10X per second).The car has PKE, but I pulled that fuse and the problem persists. It only occurs with the ignition on.
As far as I can tell, there is no pattern to the glitch. It just starts randomly and might go on for a two days, or five minutes.
Anyone out there had the same problem and who might point me at the cause? BTW, I checked the door pin switches and they seem to be properly adjusted. I suppose if they wern't, the interior lights would flicker too. They don't.

My car has basically always done that, but only in short bursts, like maybe 5-10 seconds.
I have no idea what it is and haven't tried as it hasn't been very annoying. I just al;ways thought it had something to do with the PKE.

My 96 started doing that while I was on vacation... One thing I did notice was that it only happened while the car was running, and the PKE light in the DIC would also illuminate while this was happening...
Two days later the PKE system is inoperable... Still working on that one...

This recently happened to my buddy with a 93 talon. :U Upon taking off the door panel, he discovered that the little plastic clamps that hold the lock rod were loose. On one side is the solenoid, the other side is the mechanical lock mechanism. Somewhere in there the manual lock slider is hiding too. He adjusted the plastic rod holders; problem solved. This tends to happen to cars that have power locks that automatically lock when the door is closed. The locks get confused if they are locked or unlocked when the rod is misadjusted. Good luck!

When this happened to me on my '96, it turned out to be a bad door switch. But as you said, the lights were also coming on sometimes. The switches are not expensive.
