On my '88 power to the two lights splits at a connector in the LH of dash near the brake master cylinder. From there power is routed along either inner fender well to the respective light.
The kit provides a switch, wiring & spiral-wrap and three plugs to tap into power from one side and take it to the other side under control of the supplied switch.
For this reason I went with the kit; just plug it in and it works.
