Hmm...... :skep:
they didn't rub me right either. I needed a chip and the guy was a little condescending about my set-up and basically told me my car wouldn't run with it. Here I am running with it.
2 years is a little much tho, but just good business sense and human conduct says send the fittings w/ no attitude.
Bad TPIS, bad TPIS
to the dog house with you
Summit has lots of Earl's fittings, many not listed. The guys on their phones have the info. Just gotta tell 'em what sizes.
While I do feel that the actual comments made by the TPIS reps were uncalled for, think about something. Someone buys a kit from you 2 YEARS ago, and then calls up looking for missing parts. I'm not saying that the parts were not missing, but if I'm TPIS, I'm telling you I'll sell you the fittings, but not be sending them free. Why? Because two years is WAY too long for a correction on something like this. My inclination would be that I had someone on the phone who was servicing their fuel system and damaged the fittings, and instead of paying to replace what he damaged, is trying to get a free set. Now, if it were two months, that's another story, but 2 years is way too long to reasonably expect a correction like this. Again, the specific comments were uncalled for, but I think the refusal to send the parts for free was dead on. They're not in the business of sending free parts when odds are strongly in their favor that the caller is trying to scam free parts (again, I'm not saying you were, I'm just saying that from their perspective, it was likely).
Your the first person that I heard saying something bad about TPIS , I bought parts from this company and afterwords I was very sutisfied and hopefully will do buisnes with them again !!
Maybe some of the guys here are correct for 2 years beeing too long .
Well since Chris steered you wrong and told you a bad part number tell them you will send them your wrong accel part and they can send you their correct ones. You paid 1100 bux for their mini and then tell them that you need 30 bux worth of fittings and everyone says well 2 years is a long time. I think in in the matter of keeping you happy the 30 bones isn't a real huge deal for them. TPIS better get their heads out of their butts and step up. Sounds like they have customer service as #1??? Lingenfelter is sounding better every day!
I purchased a random tech cat from them this past fall and it melted down this spring(running to rich) 200 miles! They sent me a new one no charge($285)I also have their headers, nice product.Someone must have been having a bad day! :chevy
I will also add that it makes them PARTLY responsible......they gave out bad advice on their OWN product, While 2 years is long, they should split the difference now that he is stuck with parts that don't work on THEIR recommendation.

Re: TPIS bad business (396 Roadster)
To everyone who has said they were looking at TPIS parts but now are considering other sources should rethink that. If you genuinely believe their products are right for your car, why on earth would you use your second choice? Do you think you're teaching them a lesson? You're the one who is going to have to live with it, not them.
And Vader, as far as the idiots recommending parts of a competitor, LPE will do the same exact thing if it's in the customers best interest.

THAT I agree with. 2 years IS a long time to expect someone to help out, but, if a business is concerned with their reputation, they'd stand up here, and go 50/50. It's not so much the $$ here, it's the principal. I'd be willing to bet you wouldn't catch a lot of companies being RUDE to someone, like TPIS has here... Ever see the Snicker's Cruncher commercial where a guy gets a sales call at 5AM, and hops on a plane, trane, bus and car to the sales guys office and stomps the hell out of his phone?? Well, that's what I'd like to see happen to these cocky sales people!!
It seems the better they are the ruder they are. If they are good, and making money, they will let you wait forever with your heads on the bench, or your car in the lot. They dont care, theres a long line of people waiting to take your place in line. Its not isolated to TPIS, belive me. Sometimes, if they are too nice......I start to worry if they are any good!
I've done alot of business w/ TPIS in the past year-in-a-half. They were always very good to me and remembered me and my car with each call. I returned a cam (which came with a cam computer spec sheet verifying the cams specs) and they credited me no problem. They answered the stupidest questions I could toss at them (before I read them here) and though I did spend some serious cha-ching with them, I was no-wheres near a big fish in their pond.
Owning a business myself, It would be hard to send someone something free after two years. The part cost you $1100, but that doesn't mean they made $1100 profit.
If you post your complaint elsewhere, I hope you would post a link to the rest of this page.
As for how you were treated, thats not right. If you were steered in the wrong direction by one of their guys, then they should give you atleast a break in the price and pick up the shipping. It wouldn't have been to hard for them to leave you with atleast a satisfied feeling.

I told Terry that I was going to post my story on Corvette Forum and he replied, "Do you think your post will put us out of business, go ahead". [QUOTE]
that right there is a moron, he has no idea how big this forum is. :nopity

My $.02
Obviously they didn't make 1100 profit but that manifold is one of their most expensive parts and if this guy spends 1100 on a manifold who knows what else he would buy from them to work with this manifold now that he says it is going on. So for a whole 30 bux they may have lost a couple of grand in the future. I would say something like cutting off their nose to spite their face.
Here is a little tidbit on not being an Ahole. I sold a guy a laptop screen on ebay for 150 bux, he got it and he needed the card to make it work correctly. He asked me how much to buy the card, I sent it to him FREE and I paid shipping. I DON'T THINK 30 BUX WILL KILL THESE PEOPLE AS WE PAY PLENTY FOR THEIR PARTS. Yes I was a customer of theirs. WAS!

Thanks for wording my point differently. If you want a miniram you have no choice but to get it from them unless you pick one up used. I wouldn't use something I didn't want just to try to teach TPIS a lesson.

I wasn't trying to help your point. I do believe that there is a conversion for a LT1 intake to fit a L98. Even though that guy that doesn't claim 2 zillion horsepower from this look at the 2 intakes and find some huge difference.
Lingenfelter is at the minimum equal to TPIS for parts.
TPIS makes a good cam, if you can get one thats actually ground to advertised spec. How about buying some AZspeed runners from them at a $100 mark up....yea right
When I received the kit I called them because I thought I was missing some peices. I looked in the catalog and noticed I didn't have the blue L shaped fittings, they told me that was for the Camaro kit and wasn't used in my application. They also said the picture in the catalog is of both fuel rail kits combined.
The reason it took so long to get this project finished and realize I was missing the fittings is because I'm doing a unique engine build up that includes a Callies 396 kit, Brodix heads, custom billet cam and a Richmond 6 speed conversion. I'm also building a race car along with a few other projects, so it's hard to concentrate on just the Vette. Residing in Canada, the racing season is also very short due to the weather (As of a month ago we still had over 2 feet of snow).
The positive news is after sending TPIS a link to this thread, I received an e-mail from Myron saying he wanted me to call him and figure things out. I'll let you all know what transpires.
