Side bar question,
Did you look at the codes & stampings on the back side of the rim. I've got some sawblades I picked up & plan on polish or chrome. they're 8.5 & 9.5 17.2 with 56 offset. Funny thing is they are stamped Japan. They also have little circle (size of a pencil eraser) with codes like 92 etc.
Were any GM sawblades sourced in Japan?
Thanks!

I replaced my 92 wheels with the ZR wheels. I'd like to polish the original wheels for future use. You say start with paint stripper and then go to the red compound bar? Does the paint stripper hurt the tires? If so, did you take the tires off and then do the job? Has anyone tried bringing the wheels to a "boil out tank" to get the paint off or would that be too tough on the aluminum?

I'm looking into having the wheels chemically stripped then hot tanked and either polished or powdercoated. Haven't got around to it yet. Really don't want to have the car down for the amount of time it will take.

I found the fastest way is to use a machine buffer after 400-600 grit wet-n-dry.
I would be careful about tanking the wheels - be sure the owner of the tank knows aluminum.

For those of you who asked for a full side pic with the complete rims. Not the best pics I took but not bad.

Ya ya, see a previous post in this thread....I finished the right side wheel first, had better light on the left side for a picture, so I stuck the finished right wheel on the left side to get a picture. Don't worry, they are on the proper side now. :)
Man you guys are observant!!

I am going to setup one of the CNC's at work to do the polishing for me sometime this summer... Totally painless :)
