On my '92, I've had the stock 12" front brakes, the J55 13" front brakes, and now the 13" C5 brakes. On a scale of 1 to 10, with the same type of brake pads, if the stock brakes are a 1 and the C5 brakes are a 10, then I rate the J55 brakes a 7. However, when I had the Performance Friction carbon metallic brake pads on with the J55 brakes, my rating would be a 10 (I actually locked up my anti-lock brakes with this setup). But, after 2000 miles, I took the Performance Friction pads off, and I will never put them back on because of the copious amount of black dust in normal driving (my front wheels would be solid black in 100 miles with the rear wheels clean). When that black dust got water on it, it started to etch my wheels.
So, I now have C5 brakes with ceramic brake pads -- Imagine what the C5 brakes would be like with Performance Friction pads.
As a previous post said, the ceramic pads make dust, it isn't as easy to see that dust.
Ive had them for quite a while...they work well wet or dry...still have dust but its a lighter color so not so noticeable...I have the NAPA Ceramix... :seeya
