Default Beam Plates

Beam plates from ZFDoc came this week. High quality workmanship, should be a lot easier to install that #%*#*%/* beam now.

Tony,
The beam plates reduce the twisting at the fastening points of the driveline support beam. This occurs under heavy loading ( hard acceleration). The faactory's solution was sealant, appears to be some type of epoxy. You can check them out at http://www.ZFdoc.com

Everyone should install these on their Vette. Makes installation a snap.

I'm sorry, but are they really worth what he charges for them? I've seen what they looklike, what I haven't seen is what they look like on the car or next to something where I can compare the size.

It seems that all that $$$ for some small pieces of metal, well it just doesn't seem right.

:yesnod: For what you get they are pricey. I think there are up to about $180. I picked mine up over a year ago for $140. Still pricey for what you get but to pay $140 for the results I received was well worth it.

They do make for a tighter clamping action of the driveline beam. GM attempted to do the same with the sealant they installed at the factory. However, the beam plates seem like a better solution. Another reason for using them is the nuts are caged on the top plates. That sure beats trying to tighten the bolts and get a wrench into the tight space on top of the beam to hold the nut. Just my reasons for buying them.

I don't claim they're a bargin, esp considering the price of a camber brace..if I was paying $100/hr to have someone work on my Vette and he told me I needed buy them so it was easier to install the c-beam, I skip 'em. But since I am my own mechanic, I need all the help I can get. The beam plates make it easier and they must help stiffen the drivetrain. If they're $180 now, it won't be long before someone makes them for $100, they aren't rocket science.

I think I finally found out why my car wants to kick out to the right when high RPM shifting from 1st to 2nd thanks to that ZF website and you for posting it.

Rather than spend the $179.00 though, I think I'll make my own from steel plate.

Thanks again,
BIG JIM

I have them... and they are very impressive.

The end result? The elimination of the right hand kick to the rear wheels under hard acceloration.

They are expensive but I don't believe the price is unreasonable for a limited production / low volume item. You could knock off a set for less but the guy is in business to make money...To his credit he is paying close attention to details with top notch materials, fabrication, & processing procedures. I wouldn't want to set around and heli-arc those up all day for much less.

Specifications: Material - 30302 stainless steel, Construction - T.I.G. welded, Fasteners - New GM self-locking nuts, Weight - 1.65 lbs. (per vehicle set), Finish - Silicon bead blasted
