Re: (96) Head lights don't turn on (silver & red CE)
Try switching out the headlight motor control relay. It's located in front of the driver side wheel well. It is a black box with the letters "GUIDE" on it. It is not cheep so I would try to borrow one. If you want to be brave you can take it apart. It's not very difficult, there is a central control switch on the computer board. It has gold tips on the 4 channel switch. If you take the clear plasic cover off of this relay (very carfully) then you can test each lead with some creative positioning of the probes of a volt/ohm meter. I did this and I simply had a bad wire (it was slightly discolored). I removed it and soldered a new one on. Works great now. By the way, the headlight control relay looks EXACTLY like the one from my 89 firebird. Maybe you can find a cheep alternative, but check with someone who knows before you buy one. Oh by the way, this may sound stupid, but check all your fuses before you do anything.

Bing, bing, bing, we have a winner. You, Sir, are 100% correct, it's the "Headlamp Opening Door Actuator Control Module", also known as the black box with the letters "Guide" on it. Many thanks, I owe you a
Re: (96) Head lights don't turn on (speedracer1996)
About 150.00 for the firebird one. I don't think I want to know how much they will say when they hear "corvette".
List price: $147
Dal price: $94
I opened up the module, It's a $1.00 IC, a couple of $0.30 fets and a freaking relay. Throw in PCB costs and the housing, the raw materials can't be more than $7.00. What a scam, I swear GM hates us.
Re: (96) Head lights don't turn on (silver & red CE)
Yea, there's a bunch of resistors and such up in there. If you have specs on what the bands mean, you can check each one (lotsa fun). I checked everything on the board, but I really think the weak link is that big relay in the middle. Oh, hey did you like the print on the outside "DO NOT REPAIR, REPLACE".....TRANSLATION (in a low subconcious voice) "send us your money, send us your money...."
Re: (96) Head lights don't turn on (speedracer1996)
On mine the relay failed and the fusiable links in series with the fets blew. The funny part is, the company I work for makes those fets. I told one of our fet guys his fets ran until the fuse blew, put a smile on his face.
