I have 11:1 and I never worry about gas unless I am spraying a big shot of juice.

I'm at 10.2:1 in my 383 and fight with detination on 92 octaine. It's hard for me to imagine even 10.7:1. But even at 10.2:1 on 92 octaine my dyno numbers were 354 rwhp and 435 rwt.

Yours is not a LT1 based 383. We can run higher compression in LT1's due to the reverse flow cooling.
