I'm about to install the best mod you can possibly bolt into your Vette, the infamous air foil. One question , does this go into the intake that connects right to your air filter housing BEFORE your MAF and TB?? Or, does it go AFTER your MAF? Just curious, as it seems to bulky to fit into the small tube after the MAF......
The air foil screws or presses (depending ont he version you have) into your throttle body. It should be pretty self explainatory on how it fits when you look at the throttle body and the airfoil together. Good luck, and enjoy the gobs of new power!! :p: :D
It bolts right to the TB itself.Between the two butterflies. You remove the top cover plate on the TB drop in a wedge shapped nut ,then bolt it to the front. It takes about 5 minutes. You wont feel any difference, but you never will with something thats only good for a few HP.I GOT MINE! :chevy
Mine supposedly doen't go into the TB. When I talked to ZIP, they told me it goes into the air intake BEFORE the TB, that the "old" style screws/presses into the TB, but they were causing problems, hence the reason for this cheap black peice of crap they are producing now:
I just came back in, and it appears the ONLY place this paperweight will fit, is the larger tube right after the air filter housing, in front of the MAF, I just want to make sure it's right. With the 150 HP it's adding, I don't want to take any chances . :troll
That one sits right in front of the TB, as the air accordion holds it in place.
Never liked that design so I bought the 'older' one and have not had any problems with it in 5 years now.. :D

Yeah, I don't like it, either. Now, with the big bulky ears on this thing, the intake tube will not mate back up to the TB without leaving a gaping hole... THAT couldn't be good... It will not fit completely INSIDE the tube.. Too wide(the pc).
Yep. It just pushes right into your throttle body and that outer lip goes into the first 'rib' of your air tube (bellows) to help secure it.
If the rest of your air is free flowing, then these are worth a couple hp.
Oh, let me tell you. I pulled the intake line off the tb, slid the peice of crap into the intake, (VERY tight) and put it back onto the TB. Well, I started the car, and instantly knew the power was there. So, I pulled out of my driveway, and laid rubber through 5 gears. I'll post some new 1/4 mile times after I head to the track, but I'm expecting at least a second gain.
Ok, I'm back, from the Twilight Zone. It's in, thanks for the tips on installing thing. I'll let you know if I "feel" anything from this, but, from what I've seen, you won't be hearing much more from this thread

Oh, and by the way, the diameter of this peice of plastic was about an inch in diameter wide then my TB opening, so there was no way this thing was fitting into the TB.
Horsepower TV just had a segment last week with an Impala with a lt1, they put it on a dyno stock it had 210 hp at wheels, they installed airfoil put it back on the dyno 210 hp at the wheel no difference at all, not trying to be a smart azz just thought you might like to know

Well , the dyno MUST have needed calibrating then.
Nah, I'm just kidding, I already know they are useless... See, I didn't read the forum BEFORE I ordered the thing last year...... It sat in my garage for 8 months......

Perhaps there are different vendors for this item - my son's '92 came with one of these in the "tube" - don't think it had the two smaller holes like the one in the pic - it fit neatly inside and the duct mates perfectly to the TB without any gaps of any kind.

That segment meant absolutely nothing. A stationary car will quite obviously see no improvement with mods that are designed to work with a high flow of incoming air eg. the track.
