Default Jim Morrison was Wrong!--Look inside

http://forus.com/moonunit/Corvette/DOA%20VETTEb.jpg

After spending several hours in Doctors offfice yesterday morning do to an OTJ back injury, I crushed my 230 crippled pounds into my baby to go to yet another Doctor and when I fired her up what I heard made me feel much worse than just my physical pain. What came from under my hood sounded like mufflers dragging across the ground! I listened for 30-4t5 seconds and shut her down. Could this be THE END--MY FRIEND?

After having my friend, the mechanic and his friend, the engine guy, listen to it, the conclusion was - thow shalt not drive. Sounds like something in the bottom end (unidentifiable) but not likely a rod. Well I've known for a couple months now that I probly have an oil ring or something gone in #8 (burning about a quart of oil every 200 mi. or so) valve train tight and good seals.

So, I knew the engine was comming out eventually, I was just hoping it would hold on for a winter project and I could take my time to get money and parts together. Not to be. After only owning the car, my first Vette, for about 8 mos. I've already replaced almost everything but the block, heads and intake that is mechanical, and some electrical stuff too.

OK, so, having come to terms some time ago that this car must be treated as a hobby and labor of love, not reliable basic transportation I was already getting parts comming. No way this is going back together stock! I talked to ski_dwn_it a while back who suggested AFR(?) heads, 219 cam and SR based on my desires and ability to dredge up cash.

Well, I couldn't afford all that but I found a nice set of ported and polished heads and some forged rods that were supposed to arrive today(Thanks UPS, as usual still sceduled for delivery today, but last scanned about 5 days ago thoussands of miles from me somewhere in the midwest)Liars! I grabbed one of those 219's off e-Bay yesterday. We're going to go 30 over on the bore, forged pistons, deck the block and balance, so I should be all set for a 200 shot if I ever want it.

So, if anyone's got a line on a good deal on an SR that would really help. I'm open for other economicly feasable suggestions as well.

No Jim, this is not THE END. But, it looks like I'll be driving my 72 VW camper for some time to come. Hey, my other car is a VETTE.

I got some bad news for you, if you are showing scheduled delivery for today and eht last scan was 5 days ago, they ain't coming, that means they were lost, stloen or damaged in transit. Th emost a package sghould go without a scan is three days. But of course it depends on where it's coming from and where it's going.

Give me the tracking number and I'll give you my professional evaluation.

You know what happened to Jim Morrison. Don't worry, Mojo will get Dale Jarrett to deliver the parts.

Too slow on the block, someone snatched it out from under me before I could get there :nonod: . I've been told there is a way to modify (?spleyed caps) the block to make it stronger, anyone ever do this?

Oh well, might be able to open the hood for the first time since I rolled her into the garage on Monday :jester .
