No real big tips or tricks here that I can remember. You'll want to unbolt the torque-beam and bang it over to the passenger side of the car as much as you can.
I know most C4 owners already know this, but in case you haven't worked on them before:
The driveline (engine, transmission, and rear end) is supported by the motor mounts in the front and the rear end cover (batwing) in the back. There is nothing for support in between. If you disconnect the driveline support, there is no support for the rear of the engine or the transmission, like in most conventional vehicles.
