Well after the Comp Cam, Roller Rockers, Holley AFPR, Air Foil, SLP Runners, etc. etc. etc. I found the best mod. A New Fuel Pump and screen! I always thought that my fuel pressure was low (it was 18 lbs with the key on and about 30 with the car running), but wow was it. Now at "key on" she jumps to 40lbs for a few seconds then down to 30, and running at 40. I had a hesitation problem, GONE, it took several cranks to start, now She fires right up. This is great, I suggest everyone with low pressure do this 1 hour mod. BTW I had previously replaced the fuel filter.
You’re right it is maintenance but wow what a diff. I drove her again today and I am amazed at the difference, its like a new car or wait even better. :)
That is a great improvement but I think 40psi at idle with the vacuum line disconnected & plugged is still a little low.
Since you have an '88 L98 with some air flow mods I suggest around 44-45 psi. Even better is to use a scan tool or a few passes at a drag strip to tune the optimum WOT fuel pressure. The ECM, with data from the O2 sensor will take care of part throttle air/fuel.
Actually, sounds more like a REPAIR rather than a mod or maintenance. But 1 hour seems really fast. Didn't you have to drop the tank after you've disconnected all the lines and fill tube and then of course, put it all back together? It'd probably take me that long just to drain the tank and find the right size sockets, ha.
