Default Fuel Starvation

I have an 88 Coupe, on yesterday I accidiently pulled the wrong fuse (FR) while the car was running. The car stalled out and I was not able to restart it . However today the car did start but It shut off as I drove around the block and would not start again. I took the battery cable loose to reset the computer but no luck. It seems to me that I'm not getting any fuel for some reason. . I was not sure what FR stood for but I guess it's the Fuel Regulator.

your regulator should be vacuum controlled, try changing the fuse again, maybe your fuse is bad

I'm not sure but it's the last fuse in the bottom right hand corner. When I pulled it the car shut off and would not start again. It looks good but I will try another one in the morning. My car is in Petersburg VA about 2 hours away.

Isn't there a reset button in the corvette .I have had many fi cars and they have a rest button for fi system in case of a impact.Im not sure if there is one there you are going to have to look at the service manual.

When you turn the key to the accessory position, but not the start position, you should be able to hear the fuel pump cycle. If the fuse is good and you don' t hear the pump cycle, check the fuel pump relay next to the windshield wiper motor.

No, there is no test or reset button on a C4 Corvette. But there is a certain discrepancy. The Haines Manual for the C4 says, when changing the fuel filter you must relieve the fuel pressure first. It says to pull the fuse marked "FP" on the fuse panel. Thing is, there is no fuse marked FP on the fuse panel. There is a fuse labled "FR" as you noticed. Knowing that the fuel pressure regulator is vacuum controlled and is non-electrical the FR couldn't stand for that. Labeling it FP would make perfect sence because the fuel pump is electrical. But why FR? Best I can figure it stands for "Fuel Relay" which controls the power to the fuel pump. So taking out that fuse labeled FR would disconnect the fuel pump from the electrical system.

To make a long story short, that's what I did and followed the rest of the filter replacement procedures which involves starting the car and letting it run out of fuel. My point being, I did this without anything detrimental happening so just pulling the fuse wouldn't normally cause you any problems. But since that fuse just controls the fuel pump relay and nothing else (if that's all you did), that's where I'd look for the problem to be.

Good Luck,

BIG JIM

Hey guys it was the Fuel Pump, I changed it out and she fired right up. I must have fried it when I accidently pulled the fuse (FR) as my car was running. Lesson learned $80.00 later. Thanks for all your help.........

Good to hear you got her running again.

BTW, the 10A fuse in the lower right corner is labeled FP in my GM Shop Manual, but I don't remember the label on the fuse block.
