I know that '95's come with 3 O2 sensors but the computer only reads 2 of them, 1 on each side. On the passengers side which one is real, the one in the front or the back?
The front sensor is the primary...I had my rear sensor unhooked w/o issue. I also was running Datamaster at the time so I could monitor the BLM's Etc. so I know the volts were coming from the front sensor. Never even set a code w/o the rear sensor.
Remember to check the O2 sensor fuse. After replacing my sensors the light kept coming back on. That's when I looked in the book and realized that there was a fuse for the sensor. Checked the fuse; it was blown; replaced it everythings ok.
As stated the front sensors are what the PCM uses to tune the fuel. The rear sensor is to monitor the CAT performance. It is an OBD2 thing. The 95 is an OBD2 wanna be, so I'm not sure what it does w/ that signal.
I doubt disconnectiong it will solver your "check" light problems.
All this time and the fuse was blown, good call. Often times it is the little things. I changed the fuse and it still tripped the check engine light. I need to re-set the codes tonight and try again.
