Default Installing fx3 shocks

I have just bought new bilstein fx3 shocks, and was wanting some info before trying to install them. At the top of the shock is a hex like receptor which I assume is where the actuator gears fit. When I removed the actuators the little male gear part was broken that fit into the actuators. My question is if I may be able to only buy the retaining cup assembly of the actuator or will I need the whole actuator. The gears in the actuator part that comes off the shock moves when the engine turns on, so I wonder if this is ok?

Unfourtunatly you will have to get a whole new actuator. I've read of people here somehow gluing the gear back together, but its very hard.

Also, unfourtunatly, the actuators are very expensive (typical though, huh?).

Best bet would be to call around some salvage yards to find a used one. :yesnod:

Took me all day, but all 4 shocks are on. All the actuators worked, but the little gear in each actuator seemed to be in at least 2-3 peices(which I assume is not normal). But with a little grease and carefully fitting the new shocks into the actuators, my ride control light is now out. I am scared to use the ride control because I don't want to stress the already broken gears, I guess I will leave it mostly in tour. However, the light did not come on when I changed the settings one time. Maybe it will be ok.

Yeah, each time you turn the key on the accuators cycle that's how it checks to see if it needs to set the error light.
