Default Removed resonator.

Just got back from the muffler shop. Replaced the factory resonator with straight tubing.

I was afraid of increases resonance and there is none to be found, just a deeper and sweeter (not to mention a bit louder) sound under throttle. Couple with the Magnaflows the car sounds great - it's what I was hoping for when I put the mufflers on.

What did they charge you for removing the resonator?

I have been wanting to replace my resonator with an X pipe but was afraid it would be too loud. Maybe not!

I considered the X-pipe, but my LT-4 has the H-pipe in it from GM. So I opted to go just with the straight tubing.

The shop charged me $30 for tubing and labor.

I just got back from another drive and I really like it. Not too loud at all.

Sounds like a cheap catback system that works!

I have a 3" B&B system that I just installed. I didn't install their resonator because internally it necked down to 2.5" :mad and that wasn't in their literature :boxing  :mad And to top it off I had sold my SLP 3" system that was 3" straight through :banghead:

My solution was to replace (testing puposes) their resonator with a 3" H pipe as it was easier to build than a X pipe. B&B does offer and has offered to swap my restricted resonator for their X pipe but I was told their X pipe is restrictive as well :cry

Once installed it sounds mean and runs great but I have a resonance at 1200 to 1600 RPM in 6th gear. My exhaust shop swears a X pipe would help if not eliminate the resonance. So perhaps I will try again and see if it does, I can assure you that the H pipe does not on my car. My old SLP system had no resonance but was loud at WOT and during lighter part throttle as you go through the gears. At 75MPH in 6th it was great I didn't even have to turn the radio up too much :D
