85 w/4+3 Question
When engaging the OD, should I: a) let off the gas, b) depress the clutch, c) engaged between gears, or d) at anytime
When the OD engages, it is a very noticeable engagement. It makes the car somewhat jerk. I'm not talking about the kickdown, but the change over from regular 4 speed to 4+3.
With the OD engaged in town, and starting from a stop or low speed, when I go into 2nd, there is a jerky like feeling. I doubt this is normal, but I figured I should check.
How can I improve the driveability of my OD? I just think it should be a much smoother transition. Do you guys drive around town with just the 4speed, and hit the OD when entering te freeway, or what?
And lastly, I plan ontaking her to runs 1/4s next weekend. For best times should I use the OD, or just run the 4?
Thanks all!

I typically don't use O/D in town, only on the highway.
If you go into 2nd at low throttle the computer engages O/D to help save on gas (early version of CAGS like on the 6-speeds later). It can be kinda clunky if you're going slow.
