Dash on 92 flickers....why?
My dash instrument cluster flickers and blinks when I rev my engine. I don't notice it when I'm driving but it's obvious when I am sitting still and rev the engine. Drives me crazy. Is this common? I checked the alternator connection and it seems tight. Is there a loose connection in my dash or is the voltage regulator dying?

You might have an unreliable connection in the plug that connects to the cluster and it is affected by vibration (engine reving). Or...at high engine revs, the alternator is also at high rpm and any slight runnout in the commutator in the alternator will vibrate the brushes off the commutator causing voltage pulses out of the alternator which will make lights flicker. Look at the waveform out of the alternator with an oscilloscope during these conditions and you will be able to see the pulses. Unplug the connector on your cluster and either plug it back in (this will clean the contacts), or spray electrical contact cleaner on the plug and socket and plug it back in.
