Default How much hp gains with an X-pipe or even straight pipe?

What the difference between and X-pipe and just installing two straight pipes instead?

Who has done straight pipes other than the xpipe? is there sound difference as well?

having redone the exhaust using x-pipe, no resonanators, no catalytic convertor, stright through to back , where i built a set of pipes resembling, the targa bolt on.

yes there is a signficant gain in power you can actaully feel..the only draw back is the noise. changed to dynaflow 3" in and 3" out,,racing muffler..installed it where the cat used to be.. no change in power or noise..

now lookin at replacing the dynoflow with flowmaster 3"in and out..but it has interior tubes to keep sound down...mite work..have appointment at muffler shop this afternoon...we will see if thr is less noise.

enjoy

I put two striaght pipes in place of where my res was and it made a dramatic difference in the sound of the car, alot meaner then before. I didnt notice any difference in track times. I have the B&B 3 inch sysytem.

strait pipes will give the most sound, the H pipe will give it a deeper sound and X pipe will give it a higher pitch kinda like the engine is reving higher than what actually is. Also H pipe will give a few more down low lbs-ft, the X a few more HP up top, but nothing major, just 1-2 hp difference, but both more than strait pipes.

I just replaced my resonator with straight tubing. Sounds great, but have not been back to the track to know what gains, if any.

Even if HP & torque stay the same, removing the resonator probably reduced your weight by 10 pounds or so. Every little bit helps & eventually adds to something significant.

The H-pipe I added to my B&B definately "mellowed" the tone a little bit.

Chris, did you retain you factory H-pipe when you removed the resonator?

Wouldn't straight pipes have more flow than Hpipe or Xpipe.....Heck i didn't even know they made an Hpipe, where do you get one of those...is that for a none LTmotors?

Those resonators seem on the heavy side....

I'm having a 3" X-pipe and cut-outs installed thursday morning. I'll let you know what it does. BH
