Since the contest will be held at a drag strip, get in some practice time. You want to be able to cut a light and to launch properly.
When I race most ricers at the strip even a .6xx sec light gives me a big lead.
BTW, is it a 1/4mi or 1/8mi track?
I tend to agree about the race; just go out and do it. You should win but in any case she still drives an Eclispe while you leave with a Corvette. So it's a no-lose scenario for you.

Actually it is an I4 (inline 4). Sorry I just couldn't resist. It is just one of those things that get under my skin.

If it has a porsche motor that it wouldn't be a V4 or an I4. It would be an H4 (horizontally opposed 4cylinder engine). Same engine layout as the subaru WRX (know your enemy).

... I'm pretty sure VW/Porche did have a V4 other than their Boxer motors in their race/offroad cars....the other is most notably the Saab 96.....I could be wrong however ;)

I know the saab 95 came in a V4. Also, yes, you are correct that some porsches did come in V4's!

Pull your ***** out and race,if you lose so what . I losted in my stealth/TT and I'll lose in my vette SO WHAT.You will most likely learn something new.(how and why)Loseing the race is nothing,NOT knowing why is really loseing.P.S. she'll spend more time in redline than you"that can't be good".You and her know you probley lose that's why she wants to race.She should have spent money on old school the AWD/T will be a dot by the time she gets across the road.The new eclipse SUCKS no AWD no turbo and I don't think you even get manual.

Go ahead and race her. I have raced Supra's, 300ZX's, 5.0's, or anything else that lines up next to me. Sometimes I win, Sometimes I lose.
FWIW, I have raced a Eclipse and beat him. Not sure on the exact model, late '90s I'd say. Just keept it safe and at the track.
