Are you talking about the air temp thing-a-ma-bob that's in the intake hose between the TB and air filter? If so buy a new one that comes with the relocation kit and move it down to the air filter.
I will check into the relocation kit. The problem is the blower. Air is pressurized at the IAT so I can't just simply cut a hole in the rubber and stick it in. I need to remove the element and put it into a plastic tube that seals onto a bung onto the intake like so:
I've decided to try again, I ordered 2 IAT sensors from Superior chevy. They are plastic instead of brass like the stock one so hopefully I can get the element out.
they were only $10 a piece too. I hope they're the right parts.
Kevin, I would keep the IAT after the intercooler. That's going to be the most reliable temp of the intake air.
Because the standard fitting just slides into the intake tube. Since I'm running a supercharger I need a better seal. Therefore, I need to take the element out and put it into a different fitting that screws into a bung on my aluminum intake tube. See picture above.
This is how I have mine done. 1st I use a hand held cut off tool to carefully cut out the plastic housing and carefully get it out. To put it back into the new housing that ATI supply, it won't fit right. So I have to using Super Clued, it works wonder for me. Good luck.
PS also the IAT wires are not long enough to reach it. You will need to make an extension wires.
