Roof panel surprise
Hi everyone!
I was in for qite a surprise when I bought my 87 vette, I got the car pretty cheap since it was all more or less in parts. A project car t.i.
I resently found out that the roof panel doesnt fit. The pins in the window frame to are to far apart to fit in the roof panel? Does anyone know when they changed the roof panel fittings?
I would also be very happy if someone could tell me where I can find a new one that fits my 87.

Im sure someone will correct me, but the tops range in years from 84-86 early, then 86 late to the early 90's? then I believe theres a third design that ends the C4 at 96. From what I hear you can buy (used) the front brackets to change to a different mounting style. Hope this helps.

You'll have to find out what year that top fits, then buy the retro fit kit for it to fit your 87. The kits run about $100.

Depending on the year of the top you might not find a "kit" for it. If it is a newer top there are kits. If it is an 84-86 you have to find used parts. You need both front top mounts and the trim piece under them. Not a big deal to swap them out. About an hour or two. Going price is about $75 for used.
