Time to replace the cats in my son's '92. Passenger side CAT is disentegrating (marlbe sound with white "shreds" out the rear tailpipe). So what is the recommendation; a) replace with stock, b) replace with performance flow? I know where to get stock replacements - what brand of performance and source is recommended?
Must run with CATs so eliminating is not an option. Car currently has CAT's, resonator - muffler elimin's.
Havin' the same problem with my 93. I ordered high flows(universal fit) from here, http://www.catsauto.com/ , should be here in a day or two, i'll let you know how it goes if you'd like to use 'em.
Try Fred at http://www.discountconverter.com. Have him get you some carsound bullet cats 2.5 in and 2.5 out. I think they were around $69 and some change.

I got mine there also about 3 years ago. Working great.
I also noticed improved performance, maybe the old ones were clogged a bit.

Thanks for the feedback guys - I checked out the site, sent email and will call in the AM. Got a question though... the "direct fit" are $170 each - while the "universal" look like they require cutting into the stock exhaust. How do these get mounted into a stock exhaust system... wouldn't I be better off with their "direct replacement" units?? :smash:

WOW, things change!! When I bought mine the 'direct fit' were about $60-70 each as I recall. I'm sure they at least were under $100 each. At $170 each, I think I will withdraw my recommendation.
If you have the stock manifolds, then you probably want to go with the direct fit cats, they have the same shape as the stock cats, just a little smaller. The stock cats are big, heavy and expensive.
