Folks, I've racked by brain. I've tried every combination of adapter (1982 and up and TPI), mode (diagnostic and normal) and rate (normal and fast). I get next to nothing. There is a response from the car (idle speeds up or I get flashing check engine with diagnostic mode) but I don't get all the cool info.
I'm running from a harddrive, Dell Lattitude, Windows95, shut off and restart in DOS. I also do the sequence by the book. Any help would be most appreciated.
Yes. Just got back from the garage. With the TPI attachment I do get idle advance in normal mode and Service Engine Soon flashing in diagnostic mode. Which connector are you using?
I use the "special" adaptor in normal mode. I beleive you use the 82 up in diagnosis mode. Mine is very slow reading the ecm. It is usually a few seconds behind.
What proceedure are you using at diacom start up?
I start with cd diacom-p
then DIACOM-P comes on screen
then I type gmecm /f (there is a space after gmecm)
I have an 88 and I use the Diacom software and I hook right up. If you bought the package for around $300.00 it will come with 2 cables. One for 82 and up GM products and a cable specifically for TPI. If you need more info email me and I will give you my cell number and I can give you the specifics if you want. Are you entering the right VIN number for your car?
Thanks, Ciscokid. Yes, I have both and have tried both. (The software said that that some applications required the 82 and up connector in diagnostic mode.) I will send emails and phone numbers IM. Turns out that I'm only about 10 miles from you. Small Vette World.
