The formed metal line? It runs over to the water pump where the heater hose is. I just move that line out of the way when I pull my pan. I don't remove it.
Thanks Scorp508
Went out and pushed on it, it looks like it will move enough. Service manual says to remove front cross member braces. is this necessary? Also transmission lines look as if the pan will clear. Need to quit working on it for today, 4th of July obligations. I would rather continue, BUT the family thinks otherwise.
Thanks Larry :seeya :seeya :seeya
Life is not measured in the breaths you take, but
in what takes your breath away.
once you get the oil cooler line moved over it should pretty much drop down. Getting it back on is the trick. try putting the gasket (I recommend the FelPro Silicon one piece) on the pan and tieing it to the pan wiith some thread through the bolt holes on the 4 corners. this will let you get it on straight and just leave the thread. Will make job a little easier.
You have to remove those if your car is equipped with them. There are 2 18mm nuts and 2 13mm bolts on each one.
:nonod: :nonod: I never removed them and still got the pan out easily.
It may be a case of one or the other.. either turn the engine to the position I said or pull those braces, whichever is easier for you.
Dropped mine out yesterday, guess I just must have gotten lucky. I didn't remove the braces, and the crank must have been in the right postion. It dropped right out. Second easiest thing I've ever done on this car, right behind changing the fuel pump
