So this morning went I went out to the car it started right up as it usaully does, I roll back about 10 feet, and decided to check the oil. It was hot yesterday and I took it on a pretty long run, so I just wanted to check all the fluids. They all check out fine got back into the car and now it will not start, the battery is fine, I'm at a loss. Please email me with any sugestions what might be going on. Thanks Brian

Well, that would rule out VATS then if its actually trying to crank. Almost sounds like you have a vapor lock or something to that effect. How long have you let it sit since you last tried starting it?
I've let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes and retried a few times. My brother had suggested to unhook the battery he thought it might reset the thing. That did not work. I'm stressed.

Re: Help Please!!! (birdsvette)
I dont know. I would think it would give you some warning signs. Mine used to start up as soon as I turned the key. I filled up at a gas station somewhere around Tampa comming back from CI, and the car has yet to start right since. I also have encountered a few other problems (voltage output not as high as usuall, and my serpentine belt broke) Since that one fill up, the car takes 4 or 5 seconds to start. I switched over to my MSD ignition today, and now it takes 2 seconds to crank. I'm about to go out now and start it up to see what it does.
I'm hoping its not the starter (280 bucks in the forum mall). If I run the car, shut if off, and restart it, it fires up immediatly. Your case is odd though, since it was fine one second, dead the next.

Re: Help Please!!! (birdsvette)
Everyone have some great ideas! Here's mine... turn the radio and the climate control off. Turn the ignition to 'On' but NOT 'Start', check if you can hear the FUEL PUMP energizing and pressurizing the fuel rails. I've had 3 pumps go dead on me, so that's where I'd start. By the way, have you checked also the front of the engine, to see if any moisture got into the Optispark?
Thanks guys, I'll have my brother check into the fuel pump suggestion in the morning. I had to leave the car at my parents house and take one of theirs back home the Pa. from NJ. If that is the problem or even if it is not, can someone recommend a good mechanic in the Union county area. The car is in Scotch Plains NJ. I know it's a stretch, but I figured I would ask. Thanks again. Brian

Re: Help Please!!! (birdsvette)
If it is indeed the fuel pump, then it's fairly simple to replace. Search the archives for some pointers and get yourself a Walbro fuel pump to replace your broken unit. Good luck!
Well I'm back on the road again. Thanks for the advise, it was the fuel pump. Because it was in NJ and I live in Pa. I had and mechanic with 20 years experence on vette fix it and do a oil change. The tow, installation of the parts, oil change, and tax ran me 540.00 bucks. 70.00 for a oil change, I'll be doing my own changes from now on. Thanks again Brian :banghead:
