Long story short - my vette cut out on me, I was able to restart and get home. My SES light was on and throwing codes as if the distributor was bad. While attempting to start it in my gargage, it stopped turning over, the LCD went blank, the PKE stopped working, the interior lights do not come on and Service ASR light came on. I found that the ground from the steering column was burnt up, I replaced it. I replaced the battery and found what I believe was the root problem - - The positive cable was resting on the steering shaft and had worn thru the insulation slightly. I have not replaced the cable yet, but taped it up to see if it helped the problem. Now occasionally it will turn over, not starting, and the anti-theft relay is clicking away, the doors will auto lock now and then. I plan on checking all the ground connections (already checked the fuses- all good) to see if any others are bad.
Man this blows! Has anyone else had this type of problem?
What a CCM cost to replace?
Any thoughts folks, my car has been down for about 3 weeks now due to having other projects going on but now I miss my car..
When it was running I was able to retrive the codes, I dont have them in front me now but it was - DI Low Res circuit - too few pulses... I cleared it and it returned. It's not firing at all right now.

Re: Help! 96 with flaky CCM (K&L)
Just for grins, check the wiring harness that goes to the opti... Mine went bad on my 96 and the car wouldn't run... GM replaced the opti under warranty and it still wouldn't run...
In the end it turned out to be a $23 wiring harness that runs from the opti to about the middle of another wiring harness on the passenger side of the intake...
The harness dried out and was giving a bad connection... I'd see if you can wiggle the harness at the opti and intake ends and see if it will start... From what I was told the optical units themselves don't fail very often, it's usually the cap that develops carbon tracking leading to a misfire...
