Starters I have not looked under the car yet but I am guessing that the car has some kind of sensor on the catalytic converter.
I want to remove the catalytic converter on my vette and just put a straight pipe there instead.
My question is what do I do with the sensor and will it hurt my engine?
Doesn’t the sensor need a reading?
Since you have a 94..I THIIIINK you have OBD1, which means you have a O² sensor BEFORE your cats. So removing your cats should be ok.
(Go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong, because I think I am...)
The O2 sensor is before the cats, I think there is a dummy sensor after the cat in 95, but not in 94.
It reads the heat in the exhaust, so removing the cats may throw off its readings. If that happens, youll notice a SES light or your gas mileage will suffer. But, its not something you should worry about, because many people run headers and no cats and dont have that problem.
If it does start acting up, the fix is a heated O2 sensor.
