Ok well I've got it up on ramps right now. I drained the dinosaur oil and it was pretty black after 450 miles. There was some metallic shine to it which is probably nothing more than the rings breaking in. A little bit of metal scuzz was on the magnetic drain plug. The best news is that there doesn't appear to be a drop of coolant in the oil. Yay! I might send a pint of it out for analysis anyways to be safe.
Autozone didn't have the M1-202 filter I usually use (thought I had one here to use already) so I picked up a K&N MP-2002. Looks like a sturdy unit, it better be just as good for $12.99  I filled it with 5.5 quarts of Mobil 1 10W30 fully synthetic so I'm hoping to see those oil temps drop down again.
OH yeah... I'm out there wrapping up the oil cooler, clutch, brake, and overdrive cooler lines with Thermo Shield Metallic Insultating tape right now. It is supposed to be good up to 2000* of radiant heat. I forgot that the oil filter is within an inch of the headers, I thought it was 3" for some reason.
Ok back out I go, had to grab another roll of tape. This stuff is about $1.00 a foot, sheesh.
Ok I just took her out for about 20 miles of highway and sideroads. The external temp was saying 86* outside at the time. I'm happy to report that highway cruising oil temps were 192* and falling slowly. Thats about where I would expect it to be on a hot day. Earlier in the week I was seeing 210* as a cruising temp. I finally took her up to 6300 in 1st and 2nd too on the onramp and it didn't go over 207* before it started falling again. Before when I was taking it up to 5500 it would skyrocket to 225 or so before falling down REALLY slowly. Much better now. :D
Coolant temps also look like they stabalized about 5-10* lower than usual at 170-175* on the highway. I don't know if this is due to the cooler oil or the newly wrapped coolant lines near the headers. Whatever it is I like it. :yesnod: On sideroads temps were hovering in the 200-205 area which is about what I expect for a hot day going through the gears in traffic.
Another nice thing I noticed is that when the Mobil 1 oil hit 205* the cruising oil pressure was 50psi. The other oil would be at 42psi at this temp. At the cooler cruising temps there was also a 5-7psi increase at cruise. Hot Idle pressure was 47psi when with the dinosaur oil it was 34psi.
I've got some pics of the wrapped lines if anyone cares. :)

Mommamia! Thattsa mighty big filter! :jester Those K&N/s are beefy. Other filters are as thin as a tin can, but these could withstand a good dose of shrapnel, which is good considering the dangerous location of it on the vette.
Yeah, those K&Ns are stout filters. Usually, when I would change my oil, I would stick a screwdriver through the side of the filter so I could start unscrewing it, but I had one helluva time trying pound a screwdriver through the K&N. No worries about road debris anymore!
Let's see some pics of those wrapped lines, too.
