94 surging at light

94 surging at light
I just started to get some surging when I come to a light but not everytime. The car tries to lurch forward since the engine revs to 1k then drops back down but it only does it for a few seconds and it not everytime. It runs fine without any misses when driving. :confused:

I had a similar problem with a 94. Only when it was hot (220+) and sitting still the engine would stumble and then surge. If you watched the tac you would see it drop to 0 for a split second and then the engine would surge and the tac would jump to 1.2k or so. Replacing the opti solved the problem.

Does this happen with the a/c on and without the a/c on?? Mine surges litle too when the a/c kicks in at the stop light........that's normal.......with the a/c you idle will go up to close to 1k and then be backing off a little, but never be as low as without the a/c on, which is about 600rpm for my car....

It MAY be the opti but I'd check the easy stuff first. Look at the throttle body blade shaft. If the bushings are worn, the shaft will move . The TPS will will pick this up .....the ECM will add fuel causing the car to surge. Also, check the voltage at the TPS.
