timing on 89 L-98
o.k. i just ripped my intake off and put new gaskets on the 89 (5 hours of my life i won't get back) at any rate i don't have a manual to tell me how to set the timeing... i got the car running and all that just need to know how to set the final timing...i have the degrees and every thing just not sure what i need to unhook or plug off ...all my books are 85 and back:( please some one with a manual help me out :cheers:

there is a plug (should be brown in color) right by the the brake booster...all you need to do is unhook it and start the car and set timing to your specs and turn engine off and then unhook the ecm plug too at this point for a few minutes, just to reset codes that will be thrown during this process....plug back in the brown plug and the ECM plug and start car and your done....

The procedure for setting base timing is the same for the '89 as it is for the '85. Don't know what base timing is for '85, but all of the aluminum-headed L98s are 6 degrees BTDC
