While installing my switches for my fans in the center console, I found a blue plug with four wires coming out of it. It looks like it should plug into the radio, but there is no hole for it. I have the super duper Bose system and thought it might be for some other option. It's part of the factory harness, not an add on. Any ideas?
Re: Found a blue plug (unused) in center console? (Strick)
My owners manual for my 94LT1 says it is an accessory plug for a phone or CB. Manual says it has three wires , orange to the battery, pink to ignition andblack wire to ground. Hope this info helps.
Re: Found a blue plug (unused) in center console? (Strick)
That plug is known as "the accessory wiring plug". It was meant to used for plugging in a CB, cell phone, etc. The orange wire connects to the battery, the pink wire connects to ignition (power available when the ignition is on only) and the black wire connects to ground. Max load on this circuit is 15 amps. It is meant for a more or less permanent connection.
No, it is not the accessory wiring plug as I used that for my switches for my fans. But thanks for the reply
This blue plug comes from under the radio area. FX3 what is that, a ride control system? Not sure about the power seat option for the pass side. Hummmmmm.

My guess is that it is for the ZR-1 full power key. Two wires for the key switching and the other for the back lighting. The other answers don't make any sense. That is the only option that is missing on non ZR1 cars.

Sounds like a possiblity. So, I can say I have some ZR-1 in mine.
Hi Tom,
I think Kittmaster is right on the ZR-1 harness. When I added the 3rd brake light on my 92 (on the bow above the rear window), the factory harness had the connection for the light. So I figured the General used the same harness in the LT-1 as they did in the Z. Probably cheaper than making up 2 separate interior harnesses for both cars.
I took a look at the page and I think you've hit it right on the nose. The plug has a blue wire, black wire, a dark blue with white stripe and an orange wire. I think the plug is S238-S247. Thanks for the informative reply.
BTW, my son will be terrorizing your airspace today. He flies from CLT to CVG and then around the system.
Hey Tom, I can never figure out how GM labels those thinks. Take a look on page 8A-202-23 on the bottom right. I'm sure this is the actual plug you found. I assume the number 12059162 was at one time the part number for that plug. Tell your son to check on me when he is around the Nashville area in Memphis Center.
That's it extactly. Thanks again. This manual is fun digging through. Right now I'm looking for a circuit that shuts the fans off at cruise speeds and if the Primary fan has to be working before the secondary fan.
Most of the other controllers know me by my nickname, but on recorded land lines we are required to us our intials, mine are UB. As fo rthe fans, I'm not sure about them turning off at speed, but I'm pretty sure the secondary fan will come on even if the primary has failed. :steering:
I haven't had a chance to talk to Stan for a few weeks. Even if we don't have the final setup ready when the engine is in, I'll just use a relay tied to an ignition on source to run the pump. The engine is ready to go, just need to line everything else up. :steering:
