vibration on steeling wheel only with AC on
I just bought an 87 vette. Since now is summer time, so I have to turn AC on all the time. I can feel a light vibration on my steeling wheel every time AC is on. I can solve the problem by not turn AC on. I don't feel vibration when I drive on highway (>55mph). Some of my friend say this is normal for corvette, since the AC steal some power from engine. My mechanics think the engine mounts is bad. Is it possible to be steeling pump geting bad? Have you guys any ideals about this problem? Thanks :flag

:cheers: GM thought there could be a problem here, so they installed the now famous "frisbee", about a ten pound flywheel bolted to the waterpump!
But GM's concern was that as the AC cycled on and off, it would cause a chirp in the serpentine belt...not a vibration.
The Frisbee proved to be unnecessary and most of us have removed it!
The AC does create additional load and can reduce idle speed, but it sounds like you are having the vibration at all speeds.
Open the hood at idle, with AC on. Does engine kind of move around?

This light vibration exists as soon as I turn on AC even the car is not moving with "D" gear. The only time I don't feel the vibration is when I drive on highway or >55 mph.
