Default SuperRam Gasket for Intake Manifold

Can anyone help me with a part number for the gaskets I am supposed to be using for re-installing my SuperRam? (NOT the Mr. Gasket set from Jegs, I already have that. I'm looking for the ones for the intake only)

Thanks in advance,
Shayne

For the intake to head? 1204 Felpro.

Corvette0096 if anyone knew off the top of their head I figured it would be you :D

Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to go with the 1206 Felpro? I am ported out larger than normal with these heads and intake. Is that the difference?

Thanks,
Shayne

Shayne,

Look in your Summit catalog. The port sizes of the different FelPro gaskets are listed. I doubt you would need bigger than the 1205's, but measure your ports and look up what you need. Jeg's may have a similar listing, but I don't have a Jegs book handy. Or call me.

Big Street Legal, non points bash, Saturday at RMR. "Extreme Street Wars". No points series to join. Just come out and bracket race for cash. There could be some money to be made. I am thinking seriously, of going. Be there??? Good luck, and...

I tried using a bigger intake gasket like the 1205 but the blue ridge that that gasket has once bolted down was expossed. So here is what I did. I got a 1204 with has no blue ridge and just cut the openings biggers with a knife.

The 1204 mates up PERFECT with a non-ported base. Use it. :yesnod:

The base I'm using is from hole-shot, and it's ported big time. The 1204 I would have had to cut away, the 1206 outlines it perfectly, so maybe I will go that route. However my heads (Dart Aluminum Pro One) are not quite as ported so the gasket it a little bigger than those holes. But like I said, they are perfect with the intake manifold...

Shayne,

I see a winter project, in your future.

If there is going to be a head/manifold port mismatch, you want the head ports to be larger. Air flowing from the intake into the heads will hit the "wall" of the mismatch (smaller head port), and cause turbulance and an obstruction. If the head is larger, the air will easily flow to a larger opening. Also, any reversion (reverse air flow) will be impeded by the mismatch of the smaller manifold port. Don't lose any sleep over this. It is not like your engine can't run really well, but it is something to think about for when you have less pressing things on your mind. Saturday? Good luck, and...

Sounds good to me. I'm getting pretty comfortable with this intake finally and I also picked up a new sensor from GM today that plugs into the underside of the SuperRam. And also picked up a new thermostat housing, so closer and closer! I'm taking the next three days off in order to burn off vacation time and also work on the car so hopefully I will be all ready for you by the time Saturday hits!!

Talk with you soon,
Shayne

Can they do this port matching with the heads still on the car? My guess is they can't...

SUPER! I will be racing the Summit ET Series Friday night. I have been debating as to whether I would want a whole day in the sun again so soon after the Funny Car Fever meet. If I expect you will make it, I am more likely to attend.

No the heads cannot be ported on the engine. This is something possibly you can do yourself, this winter. You won't have to go deep into the port. Just match to the gasket, and blend in a half inch or so. For now, forget I mentioned it. It's a, later, thing. Keep plugging!
