Default ground wire location 89

i read a few wiring diagrams and can't locate the ground wire for the cluster. i beleive its the D1 ground. my cluster goes dim with the highbeam and turn signals bright and always on. i'm referiing to the wiring diagram at the web site i found here "the 84". thanks for the help!

Take a piece of wire and attach it to the battery negative terminal and the other end to pin D1. If that cures your problem the ground wire is open some where. You can also use an ohm meter to check continuity from D1 to ground.

Or you can splice/attach a wire between D1 and D3 ( Black/White) on the same connector. It's also a ground wire for the dash cluster.
