Default Coolant temp switch part No

I have an 89 L98. I bought one of those Ecklers fan switch upgrades that are supposed to cut the fans in at 190 deg. For some reason it cuts in a lot lower(at the same temp as the old one, about 165). Consequently my main fan is running all the time and doesn't need to be as I have a new heavy duty radiator.
Does anyone have a part No for a true 180 or 190 deg temp switch? Thread size is 3/8 x 18 NPT
Thanks in advance for any help.
Tim

I believe on the 89 the main fan is controlled by the ecm. The fan switch (between cyl 1&3) controls the aux fan. If the A/C is on the main fan runs all the time.

Dan,
I have an 88 coupe with the standard thermostat. Fact is that on hot days, my standard issue radiator at best, maintains my coolant temp at approximately ambient plus 95 to 100 degrees, with a minimum temperature (on cold 40 degree ambient temp days) of 187 degrees. I bought one of those switches, and similarly noticed that once turned on, it never got cool enough to shut off. My car runs cool enough when at highway speeds, but in town on a hot summer day with the AC on I hate to see it cycle from the ECM set point of 228 to 195, so I just put a toggle switch in series with both the secondary and ECM primary fans. (The relay control circuits for both fans just need to "see" a common path to ground to turn on.) I now have the option to not worry about the temperature getting to 228 and run both fans (the auxillary alone does not get the job done) at my descretion, particularly when I know I am in town in the summer, and "mama" is getting in "sweaty need of the AC". Even at that, if it is 100 out and I am sitting in traffic with the AC on, my coolant temp can get to 203 and hold, but not to the 228 that drives me crazy. I am evenbtually going to look into the larger capacity aluminum radiator that Eklers offers ($649) and then perhaps a cooler thermostat (which will also help performance). In any case, enjoy your C4. I just will always be in love with the lines of our cars, they are the best value on the market for my money, and if taken care of properly, will run reliably for us forever!
Regards,
Tom [IMG][/IMG]
