Default A/C cut-off question

I had an '82 Mustang G.T. 5.0, back in '82. One of the features of the car was that if you went WOT the A/C would cut out until you let up on the accelerator, so that the A/C wouldn't draw any horse power off of the engine. I have an '85 Corvette now and I checked the owner's manual to see if it has the same feature. I couldn't find any mention of that feature on the Corvette. Anybody know whether Chevrolet incorporated that feature in the Corvettes? Sounds like a good idea for a mod, if it's not already there.

Aw come on!! No responses to a question of increased horse power? Can you imagine? Ford came out with this idea in 1982 and am I to assume that Chevrolet never followed suit? Everyone talks about adding 5 horse power by doing this and doing that (remove frisby, change to a K&N air filter, lower turbulence in the air intake, headers, ect.) yet nobody questions why Corvette didn't incorporate an A/C cut-off at WOT? Can you imagine? You're on the freeway and you want to hit passing gear to change lanes and pass the other cars. Are you going to reach down and turn off the A/C? I don't think so. You have to take your eyes off the road to reach for the A/C control. I just can't believe that Ford was ahead of Chevrolet Corvette division with that feature. Tell me I'm wrong!! Please!! :cuss
