Default Cooling system problem and FIX!

Just letting everyone else out there know that today was a pretty good day. Why, b/c I completely rebuilt my cooling system. And What everyone else needs to do.... install a mesh grille to prevent leaves from getting into the radiator area nad garbage hitting the A/C condensor. I saw that a company was making them for the C5..and as usual not for the C4...but they wanted $120...!!! Ya right buddy. I had some chicken wire or whatever that stuff is from the Home Depot.. cut it out...and laid it in.... Looks great, and the functionality of it is GREAT!!! Cost: Free. time: 3hrs. So now my new Condensor and Radiator won't get beat up and the leaves will stay out...so now, I don't have to "clean inbetween the radiator and condensor" anymore:) I think the factory should of put something like that there!!!! Either way, you guys go get some of that stuff from Home Depot and go to town, b/c it works. SPEND SOME TIME doing it right, and tucking all the corners and cutting it preciscley! ....Just letting you guys know how to fix a bad design for under $10!!!

Got a picture of your work?

What mesh did you use, and what were the dimensions of the screen before you bolted it in?

Great Idea!!

no pics yet, need to get them loaded. dimensions for a ruff start.... 30"x 12". i bolted it to the middle spoiler deal, and then under the nose bumper bolts tucked and bolted. and then the 2 9/32" bolts on the side. works great.

 And not to dampen anyone's enthusiasm, but leaves and trash can and will stick to fine mesh screening. If you use large mesh screening, like chicken wire, the stuff will still get through.

I have seen the screen made for the C5 and I believe it has the same potential problem...but also C5's don't seem to generate the same vacuun cleaner effects as the C4.

I have IMHO found that the problem of trash getting between the radiator and the AC condensor is about a 3/8 space between the bottom of the AC condensor and the "frame"

I installed a piece of foam weatherstripping under the AC condensor to block this space about a year and a half ago. Recently pulled my rad to check in front, no leaves, no trash

Just my $0.02 :D

That is some interesting info! I haven't installed my Radiator or Condensor yet, (waiting til monday...parts stores are closed). I'm going to install that strip too! top and bottom of the Condensor, i'm thinking maybe the sides also.... Thanks for the info man!
