ok, i turned it on this morning and it was running fine. I noticed that it was running very hot so I went home and opened up the hood. By this time the coolant was overflowing and the temp read at about 270. I know it was a bar idea to let it get that high but i was stuck on a major road and my house was a block away. No place to pull off. Anyways, i noticed that the fan wasn't going on when i flipped the switch (overriden). I replaced the fan motor a few days ago and the plug came loose somehow, even though i made sure it was in.
I plugged it back in and let the car sit for a while. Turned it on a few hours later and it started to do this "stumbling" thing. It has awful acceleration right now and it feels like the engine is stumbling. It's a pulsing feeling.
anyone have any ideas? it's an 88, the engine is stock. what do i do? i can't bare to see my car in this misery... :cry
hate to say it but considering the alluminum heads I would say warped head or busted head gasket. Do you get steam out the exhaust? Does the water in the radiator bubble?
Re: HELP! STOCK 88, WHY IS IT STUMBLING? (thepenguin99)
i was thinking about that but it seems like it happened out of no where. wouldn't there be signs before it broke?
that happened to me before with my old engine and it doesn't seem like that's what it is now. it's just a light pulsing/stumbling. still drives ok just has poor acceleration
