Sometime during the first week of July in some thread, somewhere, someone posted a link to an article titled "Big Weenies" from Nov 93 issue of Vette magazine that covered the custom modification (i.e. narrowing) of the rear end components neccssary to fit the original ZR-1 17x11 wheels on a 88-96 C4 (in this case, a 93 with a big block). "Go on.." you reply. Well, I happen to like both 315 tires AND sawblades but the offset thing would have ZR-1 17x11s sticking out an inch or so beyond the wheel well. I saved the article but was wondering if anyone had heard of any kit out there that could be purchased with the parts already modified rather than having to take the car into some custom shop. THanks...

Well, there's quite a bit of machining and what not involved. Once that's done, it's pretty much a bolt-on. Give me a minute and I'll upload the article and include a link...
Ahh, it seems Bellsouth only lets me upload picture files. I'll have to work on this a bit..
Re: "Big Weenies" kit out there anywhere? (tobijohn)
For the money Exotic muscle sells it for, it is easier and cheaper to do it yourself. The hardest part was grinding the hole where the wheel bearing needs to go in further on the spindle. Other than that, it was just time consuming. IMHO. More pride involved too. I had a friend help as I had never done it before, and after doing it, I realized it is very easy.

In the earlier thread I mentioned in a previous reply above, you posted that you had photos and instructions for this mod. A few people had asked for them and a couple others had commented on what a great tech tip it would be. Did anything ever come of it? If not, if you were willing to send them to me, I'd be more than happy to write it up for the Tech Tip section (tobijohn@bellsouth.net), thanks...

I emailed a few guys photos etc, and relayed the tech article to them. They all thanked me. I wish I had got this lsat night, as I am leaving in a few minutes to go away for 3 months, Navy thing. I will send the photos now, with little explanation on them. Steve
