Drag Radials vs. Nitto
Anyone have any thoughts. I really want to get my 60' down, but don't want to end up with two sets of wheels and tires (if possible). I hear the drag radials are not condusive to every day driving with carving and possible rain, but that the Nitos (555R) are equally as good at the track and have very nice road manners???
I have 555R's and have run them and drags. The 555's are great on everything but going slow in the rain making turns then the rear likes to slip a little. It seems that any turn under 10-13 mph in the rain the rear gets a little loss but other than that little inconvience they are great. The drags are only good for 10k and I have about 15K on the 555's and still have decent tread.
The 555R Drag Radial do have better road manners that the BFG Comp/TA Drag Radial. As a tradeoff though they do not get quite as good traction as the BFGs do. They'll last longer too as they have a harder compound.
The Nittos are better in the rain than the BFGs as long as you're sensible with the go pedal. :)
I have the Nitto 555r's and they are great for street driving. 315 Nitto's vs 255 generic brand was a huge improvement; I also like the new tread pattern . I can't say much about the track yet. I havent driven the car in rain since the Nitto install but I wouldnt push them in the rain. I've driven the car about 100 miles every other day for the past 2 months (gotta love summer) and have yet to see any noticible reduction in tread. My friends 02 Saleen went from 13.9 to 13.5 with the 275 nitto's vs his stock P-zeros (I know his times are slower than should be). I'm not sure how much his 60 foot times went down.
