Last Thursday I asked the forum for help on 34 & 36 codes on my 89 vette. I replaced both relays as suggested and got rid of the 34 code for good (so far). The rough idle problem I also had diminished by 70% when the relays were changed. Drove the car Friday night and after a couple of on/off's "Service Engine Soon" came back on. Checked codes again and 36 code was back. Cleared the code and drove the vette Saturday & Sunday with the same results - 36 code comes back. Any suggestions on what to look at next to clear this 36 code for good???
Look into the MAF as someone shuts off the engine (or use a mirror) to see if the sensor wires glow red hot for 2sec after shut off. Also the wires should NOT be glowing that hot during idle.
If a problem is seen swap the fuel pump relay with the burn-off relay and repeat the above test.
