I turned on my headlights last night while going home and the headlight chime starts going off. Does any one know where the chime gets its inputs to tell if the car is running or not? My first guess was the ignition cylinder, but the more I thought about it, it just didn't make sense.
Re: Headlight reminder on while driving (nitrous1)
Dan,
What year? Early C4s have the Audio Alarm Module behind the DIC. It gets a constant 12v from the CTSY/CLK FUSE and 12v in RUN/BULB TEST or START from the GUAGES FUSE. You didn't blow your GUAGES FUSE, did you? If you have the early C4 have a look behind the DIC it will be easy enough to TS from the Audio Alarm Module connector as long as it isn't intermittant.
Re: Headlight reminder on while driving (nitrous1)
This might have absolultley nothing to do with it, but for a while I had an IROC 5.7 chip in the car and i'd get the headlight chime on when the car is on or off, and also an upshift light when i'd be cruising at 1700 rpms
I've since gone back to the stock vette chip, but at the time I unplugged the chime cuz it annoyed me and I don't know if its still doing that or not, just figured it might help
Re: Headlight reminder on while driving (nitrous1)
My car is an 86 4+3 coupe. Yes I did blow a fuse. My OD seems to be blowing a fuse and the ABS light is on.
Does this fuse power the Audio Alarm Module. I will have to see how it is labeled when I get home tonight.
Thanks
Dan
The GUAGES FUSE supplies a 12v IGNITION ON signal to the Audio Alarm Module. If this is not there, the Audio Alarm Module thinks the ignition is off. The Audio Alarm Module gets its real power fro the CTSY/CLK FUSE. If this were not there, the Audio Alarm Module would not function, so if your chiming, the CTSY/CLK FUSE is good. The GUAGES FUSE feeds so many things it's almost funny. If it is blown you lose OD, ABS, some interior lights and a slew of emission control stuff that may cause a CHECK ENGINE light.
Re: Headlight reminder on while driving (Ray Quayle)
The GAUGES fuse was blown. I went to AutoZone last night to get some more so I could start troubleshooting, but as usual they decided to close up right as I pulled into the parking lot at 8:55 PM - I thought 9:00 PM meant 9:00 PM not 8:55. Oh well - I guess I'll stop by Advance on my way home tonight.
