thanks, is there a kit of seals or do I get them all individually, and where? :seeya
Re: 4+3 leaks, what is externally serviceable? (ld85)
i had a complete kit with synchros, however for what you want to do I think any GM shift control seal will work, I put them in both, the 700 and the 4/3 looked the same. The other stuff was typical O rings...the one for the revese idler is a little more diff to get too, however that is probably not leaking due to its high up in the OD section. The shift fork seals are available at any gm dealer, the O rings are as i said a Pep or NAPA item...I looked but I dont have any old ones to match up for you. Take the side cover off carefully, worst case you can either make (ball peen Hammer) or repair the existing gasket. Why not go back with dino oil??? that thing has lived 116+ years with it?? frank
Re: 4+3 leaks, what is externally serviceable? (ld85)
Mine did the same thing with Amsoil synthetic but it leaked before with dino oil tool. It's not really a leak, it just sorta seeps from the cover. I just threw the paper gasket on there. It's kind of difficult to maneuver in there so I didn't use any RTV.
Re: 4+3 leaks, what is externally serviceable? (jmr302)
Mine does the same thing..leaking from the linkage holes, its been rebuilt by amco and back in the shop twice but the seals only last 6 months then it leaks again, make me wonder if the shafts are worn or there doing a poor job? :chevy
