I have 2 mostly working digital dash clusters. One has a non-wokring speedo, the other tends to not light up, has a cracked tach lens, and a few burnt bulbs.

Has anyone ever built one good from 2 bad? What tips or tricks can you offer me? Will I need any special tools?

I've already looked here: http://www.batee.com/corvette/index.shtml, but they don't really talk about this repair.

Should be a piece of cake if you are careful. I have completely disassembled mine many times. While you have them apart make sure that you re-solder the pins that interconnect the boards.

You would be repairing a circuit board just like the repair centers only you would be using another board for your parts source and you will have much less information. Batee has a parts placement and schematic available for download. You run the risk of damaging beyond repair the circuit board if you do not have the experience and tools to repair printed circuit boards. If you have to ask what tools are required, don't attempt it.
