Default Getting Headlights to Work?

How do you get these things to flip consistently? mine worked ok for a while, now one doesn't flip at all and one is very lazy. The motors are actuating, but it's just not moving the pods. These cars look terrible with the headlights half up.

thanks

If you have power going to the headlights then I would say that it is the gears in the head light assembly. Can you raise the headlights by just turning the **** on top of the motor assembly (without any binding)? If so then you may have a headlight motor control relay problem. On my 96 the box is located at the front of the driver's side wheel well. It has the letters G.U.I.D.E. on it. This box on my 96 is the same box that was on my 89 firebird, so I would assume that it would be the same on your 88 vette. You can check this relay by switching it out with someone elses (or if your good with circit boards, I just used a multimeter set to ohms to find the broken link). What I believe usually happens is the unit is internally contaminated with water which causes a short. It not only blew a wire in mine but also melted a motor (just after a rain storm). After I fixed everything I sealed it up and wraped it in duct tape. Looks ugly as sin, but it's still going strong.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info, the bracketry that does the movement looks all screwed up or worn out, they're missing a few of the clips as well. This is looking like it's going to be very expensive repair. Problem is, it's so hard to get at this stuff. No more driving at night for a while.

Thanks.
