i was driving home from the track stuck in traffic for 3 hours stop and go i get to my exit and step on the brake and the pedel goes to the floor i get the car stopped open the hood and the master cyl cap was up in 1 corner i put it back on and you drove it to my house having to pump the brakes to stop.
i checked all hose's and calpliers no leaks no leaks at the master so i drained the master with a turkey baster and refilled 1 drove and drained again. i refilled drove it for 15 mins stop and go and all seems fine.
question could i have boiled the brake fluid is there somthing else i should do or check.
thanks
mitch :banghead: :banghead:
I doubt you boiled the fluid. It has to get REALLY hot. (I did this once on a trailer when the pads were dragging - burned up the pads, melted part of the caliper, killed the grease seals - toasted the bearings, even caught the wood fenderwell on fire - ooops.)
Bleed the brakes. Get a couple buddies - one to top off the reservoir, one to pump the brakes, and you under the car.
I would think that they both would, I picked mine up at Napa. Cars running well I'm getting ready to pull my TB to have it bored out to 52mm and have it rebuilt.
Mitch, i'm always so jealous of how clean your car is, so i pulled off your master cyl cap at the track just for fun
Seriously, it sounds like the cap got dislodged somehow. Someone (you) could have brushed against the cap and not noticed. They are pretty easy to pop off. Then you sucked in air on the ride home....
You shoulda just given me the keys when i offered to take it off your hands
btw, why didn't you stop by the trailer Sat? I was looking for you later in the day, but i couldn't find you and figured you left. I saw Chris and he thought you left too. Sorry we didn't get together longer. I swear i'm not going to participate next year, so i can watch a little and not have to run thru the show. Maybe even watch some autocross. How did you fair in the show & go judging?
