I average over the long term 16.3 total. I drive fast and am in the petal a lot. I have hit 99 on the instant MPG reading....wish I could get that more often. Gotta find more hills though.....

Default Miles per gallon

I'm usually around 15 in the city and this weekend was the first real long highway trip I'd done in a while, I averaged 20 mpg. Not too bad for 440 hp and a loose convertor.

18 and 22 on a stock 4+3 L98 drive train....

...of course, I can get like 60 on the highway with my foot off the pedal going down hill...what use is the "instant" rate anyway?

90 L98 6spd and I can easily average 30 mpg going 65-70 in the flatlands of Indiana.

The 90 gets 25 around town (mix city/highway) and 28-30 highway. The 86 w/ LPE 383 gets 18-20 around town and 24-25 highway.

This is only if I keep my foot out of it. The ZF makes a great economy tranny. Just can't beat cruisin' around town at 35mph in 6th and getting 40mpg.

Instant MPG is a sham, goes up to like 40mpg if letting off the gas. Best measure is the Avg MPG number. :yesnod:

hmmm maybe your looking at the average.. flip the switch over to instant fuel rate.

In summertime they take the additives out of the gas, so my city mileage is up to about 17mpg. Hwy mileage is about 24.5mpg.

94 LT1 A4 w/3.31 gears 26 mpg (actual calculation~not dash reading)
90 ZR-1 6spd w/3.45 29 mpg (actual)

These figures are from long trips, interstate travel at steady 75 mph.

Both drop to low 20s around town.
Oddly enough the 94 made right at 21 mpg calculated from 95 miles of track time on Road Atlanta.

The Z doesn't do so well at the track, dropping to around 12.

I'm nearly with you there. Maybe it's an EastBay phenomenon with crappy crawling traffic etc.

My average is 15.6. Instant MPG at 70mph is about 33 on a level road.

Well in my newly purchased 1993 LT1 automatic coupe I have been watching the readings and notice the Instant MPG at 80mph is 27mpg on a level straight while it dropped to 24mpg at a steady 65mph on the same highway. My average of two tanks has been 18.1mpg which included in town driving. :)
