Default Question about engine/performance upgrades

I was curious what I can expect to pay if I get "into" the big engine mods and what is best (cost wise) for preformance. 383? Headers? How much can I expect to resonably pay. I want to increase the HP by at least 50+ HP. Just exploring options right now, but appreciate any advice on what to start with. I have listed what I have already done on my profile. thks in advance guys. PS- I don't want to spend more than 5K MAX.

Headers are a must on your way to 50+hp, installed, about $1,000. If you want price on any other mods in my sig just respond with item.

Good luck!

Hooker 2149 + y-pipe, probably $700-750
New catback, $500-1000 depending on who you get
Ported plenum, do it yourself
larger runners, $400 or so
TPiS or LPE base manifold, $450 or so

That should get you 50hp.

EDIT: i see you have Flowmasters already, so you dont need a new catback.
And since you have an 86, you should upgrade the heads. If your final goal is only like 300hp, you can go with the cheaper Edelbrocks or buy a set of AL heads off a 88-91 corvette. Theres another thread on the main page about it.

Headers as mentioned. Hooker long tubes ceramic coated.
New intake system as mentioned, maybe superram miniram.
New Heads (alum). AFR 195
New camshaft. Crane, CompCams, Ling219

That will just about set you back $3500 or so......depends really.
